Design of Optical Collimator System for Vehicle Speed Gun using Non-Imaging Optics

Vehicle speed guns are usually used in normal sunlight conditions (daytime). If we want to use vehicle low light (nighttime), the illuminator is needed provide sufficient for gun take photos. The must fulfill two requirements: (i) using infrared wavelength ensure that driver not startled by dazzling eyes of proposed system and (ii) high energy efficiency make compact leading a small battery improve portable gun. In this study, an collimator designed non-imaging optics introduced. LEDs with chosen from library LightToolsTM, structure collimated transfer illumination array square area 3x3 m2 cover detect number plate. design process built based on conservation optical path length Matlab program. After that, simulated LightToolsTM software. promising results simulation show can efficiently LED target uniformity about 70 % 80 %.
